North Area Local Project

Project History

The North Area Local Project (NALP) included levee and channel improvements along the Natomas East Main Drainage Canal (NEMDC; also known as Steelhead Creek), Arcade Creek, Dry/Robla creeks, and the Natomas Cross Canal. The project also consisted of several borrow sites, including what is now the Wolf Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, and construction of ancillary facilities such as the Steelhead Creek Pumping Station. Restoration and enhancement of the environmental was implemented at the sites impacted by the project pursuant to a web of interdependent, and often overlapping, regulatory mechanisms.
