Hansen Ranch Preserve

Overview

Hansen Ranch is bordered by Ascot Avenue on the north, the Southern Pacific Railroad on the west and the Robla Creek Levee on the south. Both Dry Creek and Robla Creek run from east to west across the floodplain and join Steelhead Creek to the west and the landscape is dotted with vernal pools. SAFCA purchased a conservation easement on Hansen Ranch to perserve 3.74 acres of vernal pools on the property to help minimize impacts related North Areal Local Project (NALP).

As the conservation easement mandates a Preserve Manager ensures that all of the requirements listed in the conservation easement, the flood control easement, the CMMP and the Range Management Plan are implemented to ensure that the floodplain habitats, particularly the vernal pools, are conserved and enhanced.
