| Letters
of Map Revision
If you are canceling your flood insurance or converting your Standard policy to a low-cost Preferred Risk Policy, your lender or insurance agent may ask you for a copy of the Letter of Map Revision that removed your area from the Federal flood insurance requirement.
Letters of Map Revision are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to announce the removal of the Federal flood insurance requirement from a community or portion of a community.
Click here to view or download the Letters of Map Revision that removed areas such as Downtown, Mid-Town, East Sacramento, Oak Park, Curtis Park and Land Park from the flood insurance requirement in February 2005*. There are two letters here, one for property that is located in the City of Sacramento and another for property located in the unincorporated portion of Sacramento County.
Please Note: Letters of Map Revision DO NOT provide insurance agents or lenders with the specific street address of each property that has been removed from the Federal flood insurance requirement. Nor will FEMA issue a letter to each property owner with the address of the property owner's home or building that has been removed from this requirement.
Rather, Letters of Map Revision provide agents and lenders with general information they can use to check the current flood risk to a property owner’s home or building.
Finally, FEMA did not issue a Letter of Map Revision to release the Natomas/North Area from the Federal flood insurance requirement. Instead, in July 1998, FEMA issued new flood maps that officially released these communities from this requirement.
